Story
In Taiwan, Acer announced its refreshed Nitro 16 gaming laptop featuring AMD's Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor during the Computex 2026 event. This new chip is marketed by AMD as the fastest mobile gaming processor globally, leveraging its 16 cores and 64MB of L3 cache, which significantly improves gaming performance. Across a benchmark of 29 games played at 1080p, the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D demonstrated an average frame rate that surpassed its competitors by 16%, with many titles showing leads of over 10%. The inclusion of second-generation 3D V-Cache reduces memory latency, resulting in a smoother gameplay experience for users. The Nitro 16 also allows a range of options for buyers, featuring a mobile RTX 5070 Ti GPU with 12GB of GDDR7 VRAM. It is packed with up to 32GB of DDR5-5600 memory and offers ample storage options with two PCIe Gen 4 NVMe slots supporting up to 2TB. Display-wise, the machine boasts a 16-inch WQXGA panel with a resolution of 2560x1600, offering full 100% sRGB coverage, refresh rates up to 240Hz, and rapid 3ms response times. Connectivity features are robust, with USB 4 Type-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, a microSD card slot, an RJ-45 port, as well as Intel’s Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 support. For effective thermal management, the Nitro 16 employs a dual-fan cooling system with four intake and four exhaust ports. The NitroSense utility allows users to control fan speeds and performance modes to fully utilize the high-performance capabilities of the CPU. This comprehensive announcement from Acer also included their flagship Predator Helios 18 AI laptop, which merges advanced Intel Core Ultra processor technology with a high-performance NVIDIA GPU. With an 18-inch display capable of dual-mode operation, it offers features that cater to both visual enthusiasts and competitive gamers alike. The entire new lineup enhances Acer’s presence in the gaming market and affirms their commitment to providing cutting-edge technology for gamers.
