His Guernsey-built ships served as crucial vessels for commerce, frequently transporting goods between London and Costa Rica, fostering not only economic growth but also cultural exchange during that period. Producer José Palma is now initiating research for a potential feature film centered on Le Lacheur’s legacy. Palma aims to illustrate the historical link between Guernsey and Costa Rica, highlighting how Le Lacheur's efforts in establishing coffee as a key export ultimately aided Costa Rica's sovereignty during times of conflict in the region. As part of this endeavor, a fundraising campaign was launched by The Guernsey Society to restore Le Lacheur's headstone in Highgate Cemetery, emphasizing the importance of remembering his contributions to both Guernsey's heritage and Costa Rica’s history.
