In India, a Royal Navy F-35B fighter jet has been undergoing repairs after being stranded for more than three weeks due to bad weather conditions. The jet encountered difficulties on June 14 while flying about 100 nautical miles off Kerala's coast and was unable to return to its aircraft carrier. Instead, the pilots sought permission to make an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. The timely arrival of UK engineers enabled essential repairs to start after the aircraft was moved into a maintenance hangar. As the repair efforts progressed, a team of six crew members from the UK maintained a protective watch over the jet, working in shifts to ensure its safety. British officials expressed no concerns about possible espionage, reinforcing their trust in the Indian authorities. Notably, the F-35B Lightning, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, is recognized as one of the most advanced combat aircraft utilized by NATO and select allied nations. By moving the aircraft into a hangar, the UK aims to promptly restore the jet to operational status while addressing maintenance and repair requirements.
