In a significant philanthropic gesture, British billionaire Chris Rokos has committed to donating £190 million to the University of Cambridge. Announced recently, this is set to be the largest single donation made to a British university in modern history. The contribution includes an initial £130 million, followed by an additional £60 million which will be matched by the university, leading to the establishment of the Rokos School of Government. The future Rokos School of Government aims to train upcoming leaders and produce insights that will adapt to the rapidly changing global landscape. This institution will be situated in the Cambridge West Innovation District and will begin operations in the autumn of 2026, initially utilizing temporary facilities until a permanent building is completed. Chris Rokos, whose fortune is estimated at around £2.6 billion, expressed a desire to give back to the UK, an important aspect of this donation. The idea for this initiative emerged several years prior in discussions with Dr. Elisabeth Kendall, a friend from his time at Oxford.
