Singapore is developing a new underground link connecting the future Terminal 5 (T5) to Terminal 2 (T2) of Changi Airport. This people-mover system, designed to transport passengers swiftly, will allow for a four-minute transit time between the two terminals. The Changi Airport Group (CAG) announced that the automated system, akin to the existing Skytrain, will have a frequency of operating every four to eight minutes once fully functional. Construction milestones include the completion of 1.7 km of the three tunnels between T5 and T2, which together extend a total of 2.5 km. The project emphasizes efficiency for transit passengers, enabling connections to flights within an hour from T5. An additional baggage tunnel is being constructed, with the capability to transfer up to 3,000 bags per hour, showcasing an improvement over the existing system that handles more than 2,700 bags an hour between Terminals 1, 2, and 3.
