In Germany, a 20-year-old German-Iranian man was arrested on suspicion of a disturbing series of cybercrimes involving child abuse. The suspect is accused of engaging in a complex online campaign of cybergrooming and virtual sexual exploitation over the internet from 2021 to 2023. Authorities reported that he pressured at least eight victims, ages 11 to 15, from multiple countries, including the United States, Canada, England, and Germany, to engage in acts of self-harm and create abusive content. In particular, he allegedly coerced a 13-year-old boy from the United States to commit suicide on a livestream, showcasing the grave nature of his actions. Investigators revealed that he operated under the pseudonym “White Tiger” and targeted vulnerable youth in online forums, often those discussing suicide. He reportedly manipulated and exploited their emotional distress, leading some victims to create pornographic and violent recordings of themselves. The suspect gathered these recordings to use as blackmail, threatening to release them if the children did not comply with further demands for self-harm. The German police and prosecutors noted the shocking level of violence and manipulation involved in this case, with Hamburg Attorney General Jörg Fröhlich highlighting the severity of the accused's acts. A total of 120 crimes spanning across international borders have been attributed to him, with a particular focus on his exploitation of minors who were already in distress. Another victim, a 14-year-old girl from Canada, also attempted suicide as a result of her interactions with the suspect, indicating the profound psychological impact of his actions. While the suspect has denied wrongdoing during a closed hearing, German authorities have expressed their commitment to pursuing justice and raising awareness about online child abuse in hopes of preventing such incidents in the future.
