Story

In April 2026, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced multiple product recalls affecting various items sold at Walmart stores and online. This includes exercise equipment, portable generators, and infant car seats linked to severe risks of injury. The recalls were initiated due to reports of significant safety hazards including falls, burns, and potential fire risks. Sperax walking pads and compact treadmills were highlighted for their tendency to malfunction, creating risks of falls and injuries. Over 200 incidents have been reported, including a concussion requiring medical care, and 573 instances of overheating or fire-related issues. Additionally, approximately 149,400 Generac portable generators were recalled due to fuel leak defects, posing a fire hazard after being sold at major retailers from May 2025 to February 2026. While no injuries have been reported from these generators, customers are encouraged to check model numbers and discontinue use. Furthermore, about 5,126 Graco rear-facing infant car seats were included in the recall due to potential defects in the child restraint system. Though no injuries have been recorded, the safety of these car seats was in question, warranting immediate attention and action by consumers. In light of these developments, consumers who purchased any of the affected items are advised to cease use promptly and follow the guidelines set forth by the manufacturers and federal regulators.
