The development is anticipated to produce around 91.8 MW of low carbon electricity, which has the potential to power approximately 53,000 homes, thereby contributing to Scotland’s net-zero targets and enhancing energy security while reducing energy costs for consumers. Moreover, the project is expected to establish a community benefit fund that will allocate £11.25 million to local groups throughout its operational lifetime. The fund aims to support initiatives that foster positive community impacts as the wind farm operates. In contrast, Forestry England has initiated early-stage considerations for an onshore wind project in Northumberland. This endeavor is still speculative and relies on securing expertise from experienced developers. The department noted that it recently received newly granted powers which would allow use of renewable energy resources across lands it manages, reinforcing the nation’s push towards renewable energy production on a larger scale.
