In England and Wales, homicide statistics have revealed a significant decline, with police recording 499 cases of murder, manslaughter, and infanticide in the year leading up to September 2025. This figure marks the lowest occurrence of homicides since 1977, reflecting a 7% reduction compared to the previous year. A notable factor in this reduction is attributed to a 23% decrease in deaths resulting from knife attacks, totaling 174 incidents during the same timeframe.
