Story

In the United States, Christmas Day is recognized as a federal holiday, which results in the closure of many retail establishments. Some stores, especially grocery chains, operate under limited hours on Christmas Eve, but most remain shut on Christmas Day. Walmart will be open on Christmas Eve from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., but will not serve customers on Christmas Day. Target has specific hours on Christmas Eve, operating from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., yet will also close for the holiday. Trader Joe's stores will be available for limited shopping on Christmas Eve, opening at 9 a.m. and closing by 5 p.m., while all locations lay dormant on Christmas Day. Other grocery stores such as Wegmans and Whole Foods will have similar operational restrictions, with both closing their doors on Christmas Day as well. Aldi will follow the trend, operating only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve before shutting down entirely for the holiday. Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts will have locations open during their regular hours on Christmas Eve. Some Starbucks may even be open on Christmas Day, depending on store-specific hours, while CVS stores might also continue with limited operations during the holiday. Walgreens will follow suit by having regular hours on Christmas Eve. Overall, as Christmas Day approaches, shoppers are encouraged to finish their holiday shopping early, given the impending closures of popular stores.
