Fortunately, all passengers managed to evacuate and were safely transferred back to their cruise ship, Mein Schiff 1. The Dominican Republic navy responded to the emergency call and is currently investigating the cause of the incident, as reported by the Captaincy of the Port of Samana. The authorities have collaborated to ascertain responsibilities and implement preventive measures to avert similar occurrences in the future. The swift action by the crew and the timely intervention of the navy contributed to a successful rescue. A spokesperson for Tui Cruises confirmed that the safety of the guests remains their top priority. Following the incident, all rescued passengers were provided with pastoral care and compensation, and they expressed their wish to continue their cruise adventure. The Mein Schiff 1 was on a 14-day round trip beginning in La Romana, Dominican Republic, with several stops planned in Jamaica, Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, and Colombia, culminating back at La Romana on November 21.
