In the UK, a significant recommendation was made regarding prostate cancer screening, specifically targeting only a small subset of men deemed at high risk. Men who carry a dangerous genetic variant known as BRCA2 and have a family history involving cancers such as breast, ovarian, pancreatic, or prostate cancer are the only individuals suggested for screening. Some individuals believe that this recommendation represents a regression, restricting the pool of eligible candidates for screening, thus missing out on the chance to catch more prostate cancer cases early through mass screening approaches.
