Eswatini recently hosted a significant workshop from March 11-12 aimed at promoting digital entrepreneurship among youth and micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises. This event was part of a collaborative effort between the governments of Eswatini, Taiwan, and the United States through the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF). High-profile representatives attended, including Ambassador Jeremy H.S. Liang from Taiwan, U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Marc Weinstock, and Eswatini's Manqoba Khumalo, minister of commerce, industry, and trade. These officials delivered remarks highlighting the importance of digital entrepreneurship and infrastructure in modern economies. Taiwan's involvement in this seminar is pivotal, as it aligns with ongoing efforts to improve digital capacities in Eswatini. Over the years, Taiwan has provided various technological supports, aiming to help Eswatini transition into a more digitalized nation. Liang expressed optimism that the insights and experiences shared at the workshop would guide Eswatini in achieving its digitalization goals. The event attracted around 150 participants from various backgrounds, including academic, governmental, and industrial representatives from Eswatini, Japan, Taiwan, and the United States, which illustrates the global interest in fostering digital growth in the region. The third occurrence of such a seminar in Eswatini signifies the growing collaboration under the GCTF platform since its inception in 2015, addressing numerous global issues through transnational cooperation. This event not only showcases Eswatini’s commitment to improving its digital infrastructure but also emphasizes the support that allied nations like Taiwan offer to developing nations in pursuing modern economic pathways. Taiwanese companies such as International Integrated Systems, Inc. and iKala Interactive Media Inc. participated, sharing their expertise and potentially offering partnerships to local businesses. The successful execution of this workshop reinforces the importance of international partnerships in enhancing the capabilities of smaller nations.
