In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes led to the deaths of 15 Palestinians early on July 4, 2025. Among the deceased, eight women and one child were reported. As humanitarian aid efforts continue, numerous reports allege that Israeli forces have fired on crowds gathering near aid distribution sites, leading to a staggering number of deaths. International human rights organizations have criticized Israel's tactics, suggesting that the militarization of aid distribution is contributing to the high casualty figures. Just over a month ago, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, supported by the U.S., opened distribution centers to help alleviate the dire food shortages that have arisen due to the ongoing war. However, numerous incidents of violence have marked these efforts, with hundreds of deaths reported as people have attempted to access aid. The Israeli military contends that they exercise caution and claim to specifically target military objectives, perpetuating a narrative that blames Hamas for the surrounding chaos. The war's escalation began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas fighters attacked Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages. In retaliation, Israel launched a military campaign that has resulted in widespread destruction across Gaza and thousands of casualties. Despite negotiations for a ceasefire between Hamas and Israeli authorities, significant gaps remain, indicating that achieving lasting peace may be a challenging endeavor.
