Utilizing AI-powered natural language processing, they focused on keywords such as 'overpriced' and 'expensive' to quantify price-related complaints and customer ratings. The data revealed concerns about pricing, despite some customers praising the quality of food. Round Table Pizza was revealed to have the highest number of price complaints, with 71 complaints for every 1,000 reviews and an average rating of 4.00. Despite the negative sentiments regarding pricing, customer feedback highlighted appreciation for the quality of ingredients used by the chain, underscoring a possible disconnect between perceived value and customer satisfaction. For instance, a review noted the pizza was 'good' but still described it as 'very overpriced', illustrating the mixed feelings customers have towards the chain. Following Round Table, Domino's and Pizza Hut ranked as the second and third most overpriced pizza chains, with 14 and 20 price complaints per 1,000 reviews, respectively. Both chains, known for their reach across all 50 states, received average ratings of 3.49 and 3.54. Even though they position themselves as value-focused brands, customers frequently criticized their pricing structures. This situation raises questions about the affordability of popular pizza chains. The study also revealed that Sbarro and Pizza Ranch had significant price complaints, with Sbarro receiving 62 complaints per 1,000 reviews, and Pizza Ranch topping out at 73 complaints, but maintaining a higher average rating of 4.13.
