In the past year, International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways, Aer Lingus, and other airlines, reported significant growth in its operating profit, which reached 5.0 billion euros. This marked a 17.3 percent increase from the previous year's profit of 4.3 billion euros. IAG attributed this surge in profitability to enduring demand for air travel, particularly within key markets in Europe and across the Atlantic, alongside limited supply in an increasingly consolidated industry. The airline's operational performance, which includes improved on-time arrivals and customer satisfaction, has transformed into superior financial results, boasting outstanding margins that remain ahead of global competitors. British Airways played a pivotal role in these results by reporting its own operating profit of 2.2 billion euros, a slight increase from 2.0 billion euros in 2024. In terms of capacity, IAG saw a 2.4 percent rise in available seat kilometers in 2025. Looking to the future, IAG expects passenger demand to remain strong according to market data assessments, with an anticipated increase in capacity of approximately 3 percent this year, despite mixed signals regarding economy cabin demand. The group carried about 121.6 million passengers, a slight dip from the previous year's figure of 122.0 million, with British Airways seeing a modest increase in passenger numbers.
