A bald eagle, presumed to be Jackie, is reported to be in critical condition following a fight with two other eagles. The Ojai Raptor Center in California is providing treatment for the eagle, who is experiencing severe anemia and inflammation affecting the kidneys. The center has indicated that further testing will be conducted to determine the underlying causes of the eagle's health issues. Friends of Big Bear Valley, an environmental nonprofit, has stated that while they cannot definitively confirm the eagle's identity due to the absence of a tracking band, they believe it is likely Jackie based on public submissions of photos and videos. Jackie, along with her partner Shadow, has gained significant attention through livestreams of their habitat, and the pair welcomed three chicks in March 2025, although only two survived a subsequent winter storm. Independent confirmation of the eagle's identity and health status remains limited, and updates from the rehabilitation center will continue as more information becomes available.
