The cost to stage the Games was approximately £3.6 million, and about £2.5 million was spent with local suppliers. Remarkably, 40% of the spectators arrived from outside the UK, showcasing the global appeal of the Games. The excitement generated by the Games led to a lasting sporting legacy in Orkney, with an investment of £1.6 million to upgrade sports facilities including a new athletics track and enhanced golf courses. Approximately 1,027 local volunteers dedicated over 21,000 hours, leading to an estimated £250,000 in-kind support for the event. This strong sense of community involvement was praised by organizers and local officials who noted the games' positive outcomes.
