Jersey, a British Crown dependency, is set to enhance its connectivity with mainland Europe through new direct flights to Bordeaux, France. Loganair, a Scottish airline, announced its plans to operate this route as part of its summer schedule, starting from June 19 until October 5, with services running twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. The addition of Bordeaux to Jersey's travel options is a strategic move aimed at boosting the island’s tourism industry, which relies heavily on visitors from Europe. According to Kirsten Morel, the Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, this move is essential for the growth and sustainability of Jersey's tourism sector. The introduction of these flights marks an important milestone for the island as it expands its European destinations, which now include Amsterdam, Dublin, and Paris. The hope is that, if these flights prove successful, further expansions and additional routes to other important European cities could be established in the future. Alongside the flights to Bordeaux, Loganair has also included services to Paris, Norwich, and East Midlands in its summer schedule, aiming to provide travelers with greater choice and flexibility for their travel plans.
