The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office received reports of the unusual sighting near the unincorporated community of Arrington, leading deputies to respond swiftly to the situation. Upon arrival, they discovered the kangaroo was injured and seemed to have been frightened. The sheriff clarified that the animal had been chased by local hunting dogs, which caused her to leap over a containment fence on her owner’s property. During her escape, the female kangaroo was carrying her baby, or joey. Unfortunately, the joey was dropped shortly after she cleared the fence.
