In October 2023, a sheep named Fiona was rescued after being trapped at the foot of a cliff in Cromarty Firth, Scotland. She was then transported to Dalscone Farm in Dumfries, where she was found to be significantly overweight and in poor condition. After being monitored for over two years, the decision was made to allow her to give birth. The farm staff believed that having her own lambs would create a bond that Fiona never had with other sheep. On February 11, 2026, Fiona gave birth to twins, one male and one female, bringing joy to the team at the farm. The farm plans to name the lambs soon, as they have received many suggestions that reference the animated character Shrek's family, inspired by the story behind Fiona's name. Since her rescue, Fiona has also helped raise awareness about loneliness among farmers, highlighting the emotional challenges that can come with farming life.
