On February 22, 2026, a nighttime attack occurred in the Odesa region of Ukraine, where Russian forces targeted civilian infrastructure using strike drones. This assault resulted in the deaths of two individuals, a 20-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, while three others sustained injuries, two of whom were reported to be in critical condition. The attack not only claimed lives but also caused significant damage to various facilities, including production and warehouse infrastructure, administrative buildings, and vehicles. Notably, one drone impacted an apartment building but did not detonate, avoiding potentially greater casualties. Authorities have confirmed that the incident was part of a larger wave of attacks against Ukraine, where a total of 126 drones and an Iskander-M ballistic missile were launched overnight. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to intercept 105 of these drones; however, at least 20 drones and a missile successfully struck multiple locations, leading to the tragic outcomes reported in Odesa and other regions in Ukraine. The strikes in Odesa were characterized by impacts on industrial, energy, and civilian infrastructure, causing fires and prompting emergency services to mobilize. In addition to the fatalities in Odesa, other regions were also affected by Russian strikes the same day. In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, two people were killed and four were injured from a series of attacks.
