In Israel, a violent incident occurred on June 28, 2025, in Samaria's Binyamin region, involving right-wing Jewish activists and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The altercation began when IDF soldiers detected Israeli civilian vehicles entering a closed military zone near the Palestinian village of Kafr Malik. As troops attempted to disperse the illegal gathering, 'dozens' of activists reportedly threw rocks and verbally attacked the soldiers, leading to a physical confrontation. The military employed riot control measures and made six arrests in connection with the violence. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly denounced the actions of the rioters, stating that their behavior does not represent the broader Jewish community in Judea and Samaria. Regional leaders, including Binyamin Regional Council head Israel Ganz, have expressed outrage over the situation and demanded an immediate investigation into the military's use of force. They asserted there is no justification for live fire against civilians, noting that incidents resulting in civilian injury are exceptionally serious and warrant thorough investigation. Calls for investigation were echoed by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who stressed that violence against IDF soldiers is detrimental to the settlement enterprise. The military's report noted a decrease in violent incidents by Jews against Arabs and security forces; however, the recent escalation raises serious questions about law enforcement and community relations in the region.
